The SERU (Safety, Equality and Regulatory Understanding) assessment is a mandatory requirement from Transport for London (TfL) for anyone applying for or renewing a private hire vehicle (PHV) driver licence in London. It tests your knowledge of the TfL PHV Driver's Handbook, covering safety, equality law, safeguarding, and the regulatory framework.

How many questions are on the real SERU test?

The official SERU assessment is a computer-based multiple-choice test. TfL sets the format and number of questions. Our platform provides 100 SERU-style questions across all 10 handbook sections to help you prepare thoroughly.
What is the pass mark for the SERU test?

TfL sets the pass mark for the official assessment. On PassSERU, we use a 70% pass mark for our mock and real-style tests, which is a good benchmark to aim for when preparing.
How is the SERU test taken?

The official assessment is taken at a test centre approved by TfL, under exam conditions. It is computer-based. Passing the SERU also demonstrates that you have the required English language reading and writing skills for a PHV licence.
Can I retake the SERU test if I fail?

Yes, you can retake the official TfL SERU assessment if you do not pass. TfL will advise you on the process and any waiting period. We recommend using our mock tests to keep practising before your next attempt.

Are your questions the same as the official TfL test?

No. Our questions are written in the style of the SERU assessment and based on the official TfL PHV Driver's Handbook, but they are not the actual TfL exam questions. They are designed to help you learn and retain the information you need to pass.
